1205 Records, LLC is an independent record company located in Louisville, KY. Formed in 2003, 1205 Records is an extension of Strictly Hip-Hop Productions founded in 1999. Strictly Hip-Hop Productions was primarily a DJ company, whereas 1205 Records is a full fledged record label. We offer a wide variety of services beyond financing albums. We also bring to the table artist development, artist management, promotion and marketing, logo and cd cover design, web pages and links for artists, and much more. 1205 Records will have a strong emphasis in the rap music genre, but will not be limited to strictly hip-hop as the former name implied. I have been listening to hip-hop and rap since the mid-eighties, and have been a music fanatic my entire life. I pride myself on having an ear for quality music, regardless of how it's categorized.

Why 1205? Lots of people have asked us what the "1205" represents in 1205 Records. There have been many creative guesses as to the origin of the name, but only one true answer. Pronounced properly, it is easier to figure out, we are "Twelve O' Five Records."

1205 Records was founded by Mike Allen in 2003. A music fanatic for 25 years now, "Mike-Mike" would surround himself with music. Mike was never a sports fan, never into hunting, camping, or fishing. Not much for hobbies in general, his one true love was, and always has been, music. Some would say it was almost an unhealthy addiction. At home, in the truck, in the shower, while eating, while sleeping, basically anytime possible, music was playing. The only time Mike found himself unable to listen to music would be at the workplace. During the 2 years prior to forming 1205 Records, Mike's standard shift at the office was 3:30 pm to Midnight. By the time he would shut down his work station and turn off his computer and make it to his truck to hear some Hip-Hop, the time was always... 12:05.
